客 · 家 HAK · KA (Guest · Home)
2018 Taiwan | Ancient Chinese poem writing | Sulfuric paper 48 x 66.5 cm
The first 4 lines of both poems are known to every Hakka person.
One speaks about being a guest in your home town【Guest】- left.
One summarises Hakka people’s belief in family【Home】- right.
I wrote in continuation of the existing parts using ancient Chinese language,
which redeemed the poems back to God,
encouraged people to re-think their cultural belief — ancestor worship.
Meanwhile, a new perspective on [what home is] was introduced.
Are you really home the minute you enter the front door of your house?
Where is the true home? What is the real family?
延續著祖宗的血脈,帶著不改的鄉音,四海為家。
踏上故土,邁進家門的一刻你到家了麼?
真正的家在哪裡?真正的團聚是什麼感覺?
為何回家卻如作客,如何作客如同在家?
