The five works in the keyboard series examine the notion of society through five different
lens: relationships, conflicts, temptations, respect and concern.
Fragments of society; and the inverse, society as aggregate. Broken and healed.

This work simulates a familiar interpersonal dynamic: energy creates space.
In a fight or quarrel, efforts push us away from each other.
To stop and cool down, to not react, might for a little while actually shorten the distance, provoke intimacy.
Love involves this dynamic tensile force-extension relation.

With the rapid development of Internet technology, we are surrounded by numerous rubbish information that appear to be very attractive. These capitalize on curiosity, waste time and money, and cause crazy addictions.
Yet in the end, all that is left in hand is no more than material and spiritual poverty and countless regrets.

New headlines emerge incessantly. While reading them, we subconsciously select what we want to see out of unconscious bias instead of reading the fact as it is. In other words, each individual reads what he thinks is the fact. Some even distort it intentionally to serve their own purposes. Eventually, after the news is read over and over again and used in multiple places, it may be deformed completely and even radically lose its objectivity and readability.
This work aims to simulate the same experience through which the awareness of this effect can be brought up. In this case——13th Nov 2015 paris attack form ABC news——many people may still interpret fear out of it, though fear is the very thing this news is not about.
鍵盤系列－聲音 · Keyboard series「society」- Volume
As individuals, we are extremely different from one another in terms of how we think, how we understand, etc. This society respects our voices as part of the basic human rights. Each one of us has the equal right to voice out.
We have 3 options to deal with other people’s voices:
We can turn up the voice to agree, turn down the voice to disagree or simply mute it to ignore, which results in supporting, protesting or silently obeying.
In this work, I chose a very strong political voice from Margaret Thatcher “There is no such thing as public money” to demonstrate the idea. Please feel free to make your choice.
However, regardless of your choice, the voice will keep looping on the back. Same way, a voice can never be eliminated in our society.
鍵盤系列－光明 · Keyboard series「society」- Light
We often neglect less fortunate people.
However, they will not disappear just because we do not acknowledge them.
In the bible, it reads “Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.” (Matthew 5:15 NIV)
These less fortunate people are sending out help letters hourly.
But it’s too dark to read.
Light up and you will see the words in their hearts.
